painting and light.
Gold has always carried symbolism beyond material value. It has represented divinity, permanence, power, and transcendence across centuries of art and culture. In these works, however, gold is not used as decoration. It becomes emotion, movement, and presence.
Each layer of 24K gold leaf reacts differently depending on the light, the hour of the day, and the perspective of the observer. The paintings are never entirely fixed. They shift continuously — revealing textures, shadows, reflections, and imperfections that cannot be repeated.
This series explores the relationship between fragility and luxury. The gold leaf itself is delicate, almost impossible to control completely, and precisely because of this, it creates something alive.
The works invite a slower way of seeing. From a distance, they appear luminous and minimal. Up close, hidden layers emerge: gestures, textures, tension, and depth beneath the reflective surface.
These paintings are not meant only to decorate a space. They are created to alter its atmosphere — to bring warmth, reflection, and silence into the environment around them.
With this collection, Camilla Ghione continues her exploration of imperfection as a form of beauty, transforming precious materials into emotional landscapes that evolve with light and human perception.
